Generations of knowledge, contemporary design
Three generations of family knowledge and expertise shape Raffine’s approach: sculptural furniture in natural materials, tailored customer service, and timeless designs built to endure.

Raffine creates sculptural furniture defined by refined natural materials and architectural form. Working exclusively with designers, architects, and developers, Raffine, a premium wholesale furniture studio, has carved out a distinctive position in the market – one focused on marble, metal, and timber compositions that balance material presence with restrained design. Each piece is developed for both residential and commercial applications, intended to bring structure, texture, and quiet refinement to the spaces they inhabit.
Founded by brothers, Peter and Joseph, in Sydney in late 2023, Raffine brings three generations of industry knowledge to contemporary Australian interiors. Director Peter Maroon elaborates, “Three generations in the furniture industry gives you a particular lens – one that’s less about trends and more about what endures. That’s what Raffine is built on.” Furniture that lasts, not just structurally but aesthetically; pieces that hold their presence across decades. Where the two previous generations of Raffine were retail-led, the current approach and natural evolution reflect the industry’s shifting landscape to being designer-led. The case for a different model became clear as the community sought more considered, collaborative partnerships.
Central to Raffine’s evolution is its in-house design team – a capability that sets the studio apart from conventional wholesale suppliers. In Sydney, at the new showroom in Alexandria, the team works hand in hand with clients and designers, translating project-specific needs into bespoke outcomes within the parameters of each collection. The showroom is a thoughtfully curated space where designers can bring clients for appointments, exploring finishes, discussing lead times, and securing approvals in an environment that showcases the collection. Further, the trade program provides tailored assistance suited to specific project requirements, whether residential, commercial, hospitality, or developer led.
The furniture collection itself speaks to Raffine’s commitment to enduring design. The Brielle Table is exemplary – a dining piece where marble meets metal and timber in proportions that feel both substantial and refined. Clean lines and considered materiality create a table that anchors a room without overwhelming it. Similarly, the Dante Sofa demonstrates architectural form applied to upholstered furniture, where structure and comfort coexist in a design built for longevity across both residential and commercial, public spaces.
Marble, metal and timber recur throughout the collection as guiding materials. The Florian Mirror captures light and reflects Raffine’s material sensibility in equal measure, while the Jamie Barstool translates solid construction and elegant detailing into seating designed for endurance. Rounded forms and natural finishes distinguish the Petri Armchair, a piece that embodies sculptural restraint and that feels considered and purposeful.
Beyond commercial projects, Raffine actively engages with Australia’s design community through initiatives including Saturday inDesign’s “The Project” competition. Here, the creative brief invites designers to explore materials, forms, and process through stool design; an opportunity for creative freedom beyond typical project constraints, celebrating the joy of making that can sometimes get lost.
The studio’s approach to furniture selection becomes particularly visible in projects like the recent Concord Residence. In this instance, the Raffine team worked entirely in-house, beginning not with product catalogues but with floor plans and architectural drawings. Guided by a single question: what is this room asking for? The team worked sequentially through each room, proposing pieces, revisiting selections as the broader picture of the residence developed cohesively.
Further, finishes were considered relationally, not in isolation, but in conversation with one another to build a material language across the residence that felt deliberate. It is a process only possible when the people making decisions know the collection intimately, understanding both client needs and how each piece will flourish during its long lifetime.
This methodology reveals Raffine’s fundamental belief: furniture should be rooted in context, developed with care, and chosen with intention. In a market often driven by rapid turnover, Raffine offers furniture built on generations of knowledge – pieces that balance sculptural presence with functional purpose, and natural materials with architectural rigour. The result is furniture designed not to follow trends but to transcend them, bringing lasting character to Australian residential and commercial interiors.
